Brain Health

To make your life better, take care of your brain.

Everybody is well aware lately about the importance of eating right and exercising. Most of it is geared towards looking good and looking young. Anti-aging medicine is very popular and Botox business is booming. But what is happening to your brain? We often forget that brain function is ultimately more important then how your body looks. If you want to remain active into your advanced age you need to worry about something other then wrinkles. Memory decline and onset of Alzheimer’s disease symptoms often lead to inability to fully participate in what life has to offer.

According to Dr. Amen, “People take better care of their body then they do about their brain”. I think lack of mainstream information is partly to blame. It is generally thought by many that brain decline just happens and it cannot be helped. I believe that it is time to educate everybody about ways to help brain function long into old age.

Body Detox should include Brain Detox

If you walk into any health food store lately the first thing you will probably see is an ad for body cleansing including possibly one for colonic irrigation. Body needs to be cleansed but more importantly, your brain needs to be cleansed even more. Environmental pollution, heavy metals, pesticides, food colorings and many more affect your brain more then your liver. Early onset mental decline is frequently associated with toxic accumulation of these chemicals in the cells of the nervous system.

PART 1

9 dangerous toxins that kill brain cells

1.SUGAR is more addictive then cocaine. Sugar and sweeteners such as High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) are a leading cause of obesity, Diabetes, dementia, liver failure and tooth decay. It triggers wide body inflammation, spikes blood sugar and promotes fatty liver. Body wide inflammation often spreads into the brain but because there are no pain receptors in the brain we don’t feel it. Bain cells change and die and we just go on eating without a clue. The addictive nature of sugar just makes us want more and more.

2.Nicatine: Causes brain aging.  The nicotine molecule is shaped like a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. Acetylcholine and its receptors are involved in many functions, including muscle movement, breathing, heart rate, learning, and memory. It also triggers release of hormones that affect your mood, appetite, memory, and more.

3.Enviromental pollutants: Air pollutants can cause strokes, affect brain development and reduce intelligence. Gasoline, commercial cleaning solutions, air fresheners, pesticides all contribute to poor air quality.

4.Food pollutants: Antibiotics in food, food colorings and preservatives. Food sensitivities often develop as a result of toxicity and bowel inflammation leading to toxins escaping into the body and damaging brain equilibrium.

5.Excess caffeine- Lower blood flow to the brain is seen after 3 or more cups of coffee.

6.Heavy metals: Mercury, lead, arsenic, aluminum, cadmium and many more are involved. Mercury is a potential neurotoxin that causes severe harm to the brain and the developing nervous system. Lead is much more toxic to children then adults and can cause severe cognitive disability.

7.Alcohol Excessive alcohol consumption over long periods of time can impair normal brain function even when sober.

8.Recreational drugs

9.Prescription drugs
